Thanks for the tip re: Sync, looks interesting, 2TBs, bit cheaper, supports OS 10.5 - will give it a try. #Dropbox for mac 10.5.8 freeIf Dropbox ever reconsider offering support for older OS (10.7 & XP) then I'd sign up again for a paid plan in a heartbeat (have been a paid up member since 2012) but for now I've downgraded to the free plan and moved to Sync (which is half the price). It works well on desktop, backing up all files when saved, but there are some differences to Dropbox which work well but take getting used to - such as hiding/removing folders from the computer but keeping them in the cloud. When Dropbox first emailed about this lack of support last year, I started investigating other cloud services and settled on Sync - it's half the price and works great on desktop across all OS and XP. If Dropbox ever do reinstate support for older OS, I may well move back as the interface & usability with the iPhone app was seamless, but until such unlikely time, I'll stick with įor some reason, Dropbox don't want to display my comment but trying for a fifth time. So I've moved all my Dropbox files across to and I've downgraded Dropbox to the free plan. One major plus point for me about Sync is that they're based in Canada and not subject to NSA rules of handing over personal data in the same way that Dropbox is - as I'm based in the EU which has strict data protection laws, it's important for me to know that only I can see my data and the data of my clients. The only downside at the moment is that the iPhone app requires iOS9 or higher and I'm still running 8 (and won't risk bricking/slowing down the iPhone by upgrading) but can still access files at Sync via Safari on the iPhone. When I first got the email last year, I researched other cloud services and in November made the move to - so far with Sync, it's been great - similar to Dropbox but some differences which take a bit of getting used to, but works well with older OS (both XP and 10.7). #Dropbox for mac 10.5.8 softwareI've been a paid up user of Dropbox since I first signed up (many years ago now) but will not risk bricking my computer by upgrading to the latest OS, as well as lose the ability to run certain software that won't work on the updated OS. ![]()
